Representatives from the three countries working on sustainable cities meet in Sweden
On 14-17 November, the Mayor of Ukmergė District Municipality Rolandas Janickas, the Director of the Administration Darius Varnas, the Head of the Strategic Planning, Investment and Business Development Department Inga Pračkailė, together with a member of the Council of the Lithuanian Solar Energy Association, Gintautas Monkevičius, consultant of UAB Telepartner, and Saulius Bagdonas, consultant of UAB Telepartner in the field of hydrogen technologies, visited Mariestad municipality (Kingdom of Sweden).
Representatives from the municipalities of Ukmergė, Mariestad and Kamenets-Podolsk (Ukraine), which are implementing the International Project "Sustainable Urban Development", met during this visit.
During the meeting, the activities of the Project in the field of sustainable development were presented. The delegations were introduced to hydrogen technology: they visited a hydrogen filling station and a pre-school in Kronoparken, which is being prepared to be heated with hydrogen. They also visited the Mariestad Employment Agency, which provides not only employment and retraining services, but also offers programmes to promote activity and integration into society.
The Project participants were introduced to and visited Lake Vanern and Mount Kinnekulle, which is part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The delegations visited a pre-primary school in Kompasen, where they met with teachers who presented their work on sustainability. They also met with the teachers of the social studies programme at Wadsbo Gymnasium. Development and social development plans for Mariestad municipality were also presented during the visit.
The delegations not only shared knowledge and experience, but also exchanged symbolic souvenirs.
