A summer camp was held in Vepriai for children from Ukraine’s partner cities

From August 18 to 26, a remarkable summer camp was held in Vepriai, attended by guests from Ukmergė district municipality's partner cities - Kamianets-Podilskyi and Krasyliv. A total of 52 children and 4 guides arrived at the camp.

The camp program offered a wide range of activities, from sports and team games to educational activities, creative workshops, and excursions. The children had an active time outdoors and also learned about Lithuanian culture and traditions.

The activities at the camp were coordinated and organized throughout the week by Erika Buikauskienė, project coordinator at Vepriai School - Multifunctional Center, shift coordinator Jelena Piragienė, and supervisors Arūnas Miškinis, Eugenijus Jafimovas, and Neringa Kašelynė.

Each day began with morning exercises and activities, while afternoons were focused on creativity, team activities, excursions, and entertainment. Among the most appreciated experiences were the excursions - a kayaking in Vepriai, an educational visit to the Baltic Sea, as well as trips to the Palanga Amber Museum and the Kretinga Winter Garden. Camp participants also created relief pictures, danced traditional Lithuanian dances, took part in a drawing competition, and participated in various creative activities.

The cultural exchange was enhanced through a folk gathering, during which the children learned about Lithuanian and Ukrainian customs, traditional attire, and dances. On August 24, the campers also celebrated Ukraine’s Independence Day.

The campers were visited by Darius Varnas, the Mayor of Ukmergė district municipality, who expressed his delight at the beautiful friendship between the cities of Ukmergė, Kamianets-Podilskyi, and Krasyliv, interacted with the guests, and wished everyone a safe journey home.
