A remote chess tournament was held between Ukmergė and Worcester

At the weekend, an adult remote chess tournament was held between Ukmergė and its partner city Worcester (Great Britain).

19 chess players took part in it: 10 members from the Ukmergė Chess Club "Juodasis rikis" and 9 members from the Worcester Chess Club.

The tournament lasted for one hour, with a time control of 7 minutes +3 seconds for each move made. The winners of the tournament were announced by adding up the scores of the six best-playing team members.

Audrius Kamarauskas, Virginija Savickienė, Asta Valčiukienė, Denis Pokrovskij, Martynas Orlovas and Lukas Valčiukas scored the points for the Ukmergė team. This first friendly tournament was won 42-28 by the Ukmergė team.

There will be another tournament for children to compete in, thereby continuing the friendship that has developed between the clubs.

Our friendship with Worcester dates back to 2011. Cooperation with this city is developed through exchange programmes for culture, business partners, youth and public organisations. The two cities are expanding their social and cultural cooperation and are working towards a better understanding between the two nations.
